Functional Medicine Health Coaching: A Holistic Approach
Your symptoms do not exist in isolation. Nutrition, environment, stress, sleep, trauma, relationships, and daily habits are deeply connected. My approach to functional medicine health coaching considers the whole person—not merely a diagnosis or collection of symptoms.
For more than 20 years, I have investigated and reported on health and wellness, autoimmune conditions, environmental toxicity, and hidden dangers within our food supply. But my knowledge is not merely academic. It was forged through lived experience.
After being hit by an SUV and dragged 49 feet, the physical trauma and relentless stress created the conditions for a cascade of serious health problems, including lupus and fibromyalgia. Conventional Western medicine did not give me the answers I needed. In some instances, the recommended treatments made matters worse.
So I did what investigative journalists do: I followed the evidence, asked better questions, connected the dots, and refused to give up.
My search for answers led me into functional medicine, metabolomics, nutrition, environmental health, nervous-system regulation, and the relationship between physical illness and unresolved trauma. After rebuilding my health, I became an IFM-certified Functional Medicine Health Coach to help others navigate their healing journeys with greater clarity and far less wasted time.
Personalized Autoimmune and Holistic Health Support
If you are struggling with autoimmune symptoms, chronic inflammation, fatigue, mold-related illness, chronic pain, digestive problems, environmental sensitivities, suspected vaccine injury, or simply do not know where to begin, I can help you examine the bigger picture.
I do not hand you generic advice pulled from a textbook. I listen carefully, ask pertinent questions, and help uncover patterns that may have been overlooked.
Together, we explore the lifestyle, nutritional, environmental, emotional, and behavioral factors that may be influencing your health. My role is to educate, support, motivate, and help you make practical changes you can realistically sustain.
What You Can Expect From Your Consultation
Your session will be tailored to the consultation option you select. Depending on the length and scope of your session:
- You will receive my complete, undivided attention.
- I will ask questions about your symptoms, health history, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, environment, and current challenges.
- We will connect patterns that may not have been examined together before.
- I may suggest supplements, books, resources, practical lifestyle strategies, and laboratory tests to discuss with your licensed healthcare practitioner.
- We will identify manageable next steps so you can move forward without becoming overwhelmed.
- Longer consultations may include a written summary of what we discussed and the next steps we identified.
My goal is to help you understand your body more clearly, become a better advocate for yourself, and stop losing precious time and money chasing disconnected answers.

Why Work With Maryam Henein?
I bring together three distinct forms of experience:
- More than 20 years investigating health, wellness, food safety, environmental toxicity, and autoimmune illness
- Professional training as an IFM-certified Functional Medicine Health Coach
- Firsthand experience recovering from catastrophic physical trauma and rebuilding my health following lupus, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and systemic illness
I understand how frightening and frustrating it can be when your body is sending signals but no one appears willing to connect them.
You deserve to be heard. You also deserve clear, practical guidance—not another pile of contradictory information.
Pain Is a Teacher
Pain taught me patience. Fibromyalgia forced me to slow down and reconsider foods and habits that were harming my body, mind, and spirit. Breaking my femur and being fitted with titanium taught me that persistence is genius. At one point, I did not know whether I would walk normally again—let alone run.
Difficult experiences can reveal profound truths about who we are. But recognizing a lesson is not the same as integrating it.
Lasting change requires attention, accountability, and support. Sometimes we need someone who can hold the lantern, ask the right questions, and help us understand what is truly at stake.
You do not have to figure everything out alone.
About Maryam Henein
Maryam Henein is the founder of an established online health and wellness magazine and the director of the award-winning documentary Vanishing of the Bees. Her investigation into the global disappearance of honeybees led her deeper into the effects of pesticides, environmental toxicity, immune disruption, and the relationship between ecological and human health.
Her interest in the plight of honeybees has led her to discoveries applicable to human health and well-being. For example, pesticides that have decimated millions of honeybee colonies worldwide have also been linked to immune disruption and a range of human health concerns.
Maryam Henein is not a medical doctor. She is an IFM-certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, investigative journalist, educator, and wellness resource. Her services are educational and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment from a licensed healthcare professional.
